A split-release synth tribute to the Ancient Hellenic World from GAIVS, spaceseer, and Heaven!

Our contribution to REALM OF ANTIQUITY takes the form of a loving tribute to Crete, the Southernmost island of Greece and home to such legends as Idomeneus, King Minos and the great Labyrinth of the Minotaur, Europa of Tyre and the bull-form of Zeus. It is also home to the oldest fortification ruins in Minoan-Age Phaistos Palace, wherin lay the mysterious Phaistos Disk, a tome whose translation is still lost to this day.

When I was approached by GAIVS to contribute original music for an Antiquity-inspired collection, along with my good friend Heaven (GR), I instantly agreed. At the time, I was less-than-two-weeks from returning to Greece for a month-long writer's retreat in Crete, and had the pleasure of meeting my friend Heaven in Athens along the way.

Everything seemed to fall into place perfectly for this album! I have had a fondness for Crete since my last visit only a year before, and quickly decided that I wanted to capture field-recordings during my time and use them in my contributions to Realm of Antiquity.

When I returned home, I felt as though I knew exactly how I wanted to craft my music, and so I got right to work. It was an honor to make this music, and a blessing to visit and pay tribute to Crete, a landscape-character of Ancient Greece that I now cherish.
